Making it to the End...
...of the night.
One of the problems I have is making it to the end of the night.
I have a wonderful son. Eight years old. Creative. Funny. And, nearly impossible to say no to. One of our nightly traditions is to lay down in his bed, with the lights off, classical music in the background, and tell stories. It's an interesting exercise for me. When it's my turn to tell stories he will throw out three completely disconnected combinations of character and plot. It is my job to put them into an impromptu story that makes sense.
Tonight it was a character Coco, Coco's friend Johnny, and anywhere in the Star Wars universe. Coco, by the way, is a cacao seed character, he made up, who loves to drink coffee, but drinking coffee makes him go crazy, in a nearly berserker rage. Johnny is part stickman and part dog. This is all one of the great joys of my life, but if my day has been busy, as it has today, I invariably fall asleep at the end of story time, and then wake up several hours later realizing I didn't get any writing-story progress or blog posts-done for the day.
So, since I have made a commitment to blog every day I am up at nearly 4am writing you this post. Both of you.
Yes, I know that technically speaking it is already the next day, but until I officially go to bed, in my own bed, then it is still Thursday.
