About three years ago I worked as a low level manager in the mortgage industry. Sick of corporate culture, and corporate politics I decided to resign, and go out on my own.
My plan to make money was by setting up a mobile notary signing service, and contract myself out to title companies and signing services. I am also available to the general public needing a notary public to come to them. You will often see me refer to this as being a "Commando Notary". The flexible nature of my schedule would allow me to write on down times.
To complete these signing appointments I travel to peoples offices, and homes. Yesterday, I traveled to the home of a very nice couple. Looking around their dining room, where we set up to complete the signing, I saw bookshelves filled with fantasy and science fiction books. Cherie Priest's Boneshaker was there, as was Tolkein, King, and other classic genre writers. I complemented them on their reading choices. After the signing I thought of what a wonderful experience it will be when someone I've previously done a notarization for appears at a book signing to get my signature for a book I've published.
I will file this thought under "Motivation". So that one day I will shake the hand of these wonderful people I've met, this time not as a notary public, but as an author.
